We continue our community projects this fall including collecting fabric scraps that are made into beds for the SPCA (drop yours off anytime!), the next Quilts of Valour sew day is scheduled on October 29th and the next Victoria’s Quilts sew day is scheduled on November 12th. Our VQ book yard sale table is full of great books that you can make a donation to take a few books home – you can also drop off your gently used books anytime to donate to the table as well which is very appreciated!
In October, we add in helping Susan D to make holiday pillowcases and placemats to donate to local seniors homes. Each fall, local sewers/quilters supply holiday pillowcases to different facilities in Moncton, Dieppe, Sackville, Riverview and Port Elgin. There have been 1000+ pillowcases donated so far – amazing!
She is looking for help in three ways:
#1 – We will be having a sew day in our new Friendship Center on October 29th – everyone is welcome to attend to sew, cut and have some fun!
#2 – Want to sew at home and donate holiday pillowcases? Follow the best tutorial at Shabby Fabrics HERE – this is the perfect pattern as all the seams are tucked in and the video is very easy to follow. If you have holiday fabric at home, fantastic! If not, we have kits available for you to pick up – come by, pick up a kit or two, sew at home and drop it off back off before December 1st.
#3 – Have holiday fabric at home and wish to donate? Great – you can drop it off at The Fabric Cupboard anytime! We will prepare pillowcase kits for sewers to take home and sew to donate as well.
Sewers and quilters do make a difference and I feel so lucky to be a part of our incredible community!
